The Dress Up Hat by Apostrophe Patterns is a sewing pattern for any dress up hat that is in the general shape of a cone: a witch hat, a wizard hat, a santa hat, a princess hat, or anything else you can think of! You can create as many projects as you like with this free pattern, and save them to your account for future reference. You can specify the head size, and change the default measurements for the hat height and brim size. There are instructions with photographs for the sewing steps for many different kinds of hats, and sewing tips to get the design that you are looking for.

  • Fabric: Woven is best, with interfacing if you want the hat to stand up. Optional stuffing for a floofy brim. 
  • Sewing Level: beginner
  • Head size: you get to specify
  • Brim types: witch brim, fold up brim, or no brim
  • Other specifications: brim size, hat height
  • Seam allowance: you get to choose!
  • Paper size: letter, A4, A0, tabloid, legal, A3, projector
  • Photo instructions are included

This pattern is for personal use only. You may make dress up hats for yourself or others. Small scale hand-sewn business owners are welcome to use the pattern to sew hats for customers. Every sewist needs their own copy of the pattern. You may not redistribute any pattern you create from the Pattern Generator, no matter how cute the end result may be. Instead, direct people to use this pattern themselves.

So practical

Such a well made and practical tool! I could have made the calculations myself but I’ve spared so much time and tears by using this pattern! I’m so happy I was able to try this fancy engineering for free and I will definitely buy a few others. I have my eyes on the undies

Less hassle

"It's just math" my husband said. And then he remembered that I get grumpy from math. It makes it so easy to just make a hat! <3
